Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz appeared to wish death on President Donald Trump as he told his supporters on Monday that there will one day be “news” about him dying.
Walz referenced the baseless rumors about Trump’s death which circulated across social media on Friday, with trending hashtags reading #TrumpIsDead and #WhereIsTrump. The governor and former vice presidential nominee gleefully stated that people thought there was “news” about Trump’s death and appeared to note in a positive tone that it will someday happen.
“You get up in the morning and you doom scroll through things and although I will say this, you woke up the last few days thinking there might be news,” Walz said during a Labor Day picnic. “Just saying, just saying. There will be news sometime, just so you know. There will be news.”
WATCH:
The rumors ended once Trump was seen at a golf course with his granddaughter, Kai, in Sterling, Virginia. While the conspiracy spread about his death, Trump sat down for an hour-long exclusive interview with the Daily Caller Friday where he discussed his plan to end the Russia-Ukraine war and said he would consider reopening insane asylums for the mentally ill.
Trump survived two assassination attempts on his life ahead of the 2024 election. The first occurred on July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania, when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks grazed the now-president’s upper ear by firing eight bullets into the crowd. The second occurred on Sept. 15, 2024, when Secret Service discovered would-be assassin Ryan Routh hiding in the bushes at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, with an AK-47-style rifle.
The left-wing media and former President Joe Biden’s administration did not refrain from calling Trump a “threat to democracy,” despite the narrative appearing to be a motivator in the second assassination attempt.
The Democrats spewed violent rhetoric against Trump and former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) overseer Elon Musk after the newly formed agency shut down the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Many Democrats protesting against Trump claimed they were “at war” with his administration and may even see people get killed.
Walz’s office did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
