Tim Walz’s Legacy of Turning Minnesota into a Fraudster’s Paradise [WATCH]

A Fox News segment featuring independent reporter Nick Shirley and an exchange between anchor Martha MacCallum and commentator David Marcus focused on what they described as widespread fraud in publicly funded daycare and social service programs, raising concerns about accountability and the scale of taxpayer money being misused across the country.

During the segment, Shirley discussed what he said is a growing pattern of abuse within daycare facilities, particularly in major cities, where individuals are allegedly exploiting loosely monitored systems for financial gain.

He described how simple arrangements can be used to generate large payouts.

“There’s fraud all across the country right now with these daycare facilities, you have four kids, I have four kids. You watch my four kids. I’ll watch your four kids, and we’ll make $25,000 a pop. That’s crazy,” Shirley said.

Shirley pointed to specific examples, including the Pacific Northwest, where he said the issue has become especially visible.

“A lot of people have taken advantage of that in places like Seattle, Washington, for instance. So this fraud is happening everywhere,” he said.

He added that his work on the issue is ongoing and expanding. “Now the people have given me a mandate to expose more of the fraud. So I’ll be exposing more,” Shirley said.

MacCallum then broadened the discussion to the flow of government funds into local communities over the past several years, particularly following emergency spending measures.

“Yeah, you know, we all know how much money got flooded out into these communities with so little accountability, starting in covid and continuing after that,” MacCallum said.

She asked Marcus how much more of this type of reporting the public should expect.

“How much more of this story do you think we’re going to see out there, David?” she asked.

Marcus responded by arguing that the scope of the problem goes well beyond isolated corruption cases and should be viewed as a systemic issue.

“We’re going to see a lot. We’re going to see it and we’re seeing it in California. We’re going to see it in New York with the home health aides,” Marcus said.

He stressed that the current situation differs from traditional political corruption.

“And I think we need to look at this in an entirely different way. This is not standard Tammany Hall patronage and kickbacks. We’ve always had that that was meant to keep people in power. That was not meant to be a massive redistribution of wealth,” Marcus said.

Marcus described what he sees as the underlying mechanism behind the alleged misuse of funds.

“What we’re seeing here is a massive redistribution of wealth when these blue states allocate billions of dollars for marginalized communities and then fail to put in place any safeguards to stop theft, that’s Marxism by fraud,” he said.

He continued by emphasizing the scale of the spending involved.

“That’s that’s taking money from corporations, from rich people, saying, we’re going to send it over here. We’re not going to pay any attention to what’s happening to it. And we’re talking about 10s of billions of dollars, maybe hundreds of billions of dollars,” Marcus said.

He argued that the issue should not be minimized or treated as a series of local scandals.

“So we need to start thinking about this in those terms, not just as a small story of Tammany Hall style,” Marcus said.

MacCallum closed the exchange by returning to the theme of equal enforcement of the law, regardless of political or social considerations.

“Absolutely and accountability and justice have to be blind, and so you can’t avoid prosecuting a certain group because you think it will make you look bad,” she said.

She referenced comments attributed to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz when discussing the issue of selective enforcement.

“Which is essentially what Tim Walz is, you know, suggested that he was doing with the Somali community in Minnesota,” MacCallum said.
