‘Time Is Running Out’: Trump Warns Iran To Open Strait Of Hormuz Within 48 Hours

President Donald Trump gave Iran a final warning on Saturday to open the Strait of Hormuz or else “all Hell will reign down on them.”

“Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out – 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them,” Trump said in a post to Truth Social.

This warning comes just days after the national average for a gallon of gas peaked over $4 per gallon — the highest since 2022 during the Covid-19 pandemic. Crude oil has also jumped to over $100 per barrel compared to around $70 prior to the beginning of the war. Movement through the Strait is down more than 90% compared to March, according to the Economic Times. Although it is not fully closed, ship movement through this critical chokepoint has become heavily monitored and restricted.

In one interview, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the Strait is currently open — but not to those at war with Iran.

“From our point of view, the Strait is currently open and is closed only to those who are at war with Iran. Naturally, during wartime, we cannot allow those who are at war with us to pass through our internal waters,” he said.

Roughly 27% of all maritime trade passes through the Strait of Hormuz, and several other key products besides oil travel through the Strait. Large amounts of fertilizers, helium, ammonia, sulfur and aluminum all make their way through this waterway in the Persian Gulf.

Trump finished off his warning to Iran by saying, “Glory be to GOD! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
