Times Square Shooting Sends Crowds Running, Three Victims Hospitalized [WATCH]

A shooting in the heart of Times Square early Saturday morning left three people injured and caused chaos in one of the city’s busiest tourist areas, according to the New York Police Department, as reported by the New York Post.

Police said the incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. near the intersection of West 44th Street and 7th Avenue, outside the Hard Rock Cafe. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute between two individuals.

The suspect, a 17-year-old male, allegedly opened fire during the altercation, striking three bystanders. An 18-year-old woman was grazed in the neck, and two men — ages 19 and 65 — sustained gunshot wounds to their legs.

Emergency responders transported all three victims to Bellevue Hospital. Authorities confirmed that each was in stable condition as of Saturday morning.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene, and officers recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting. Due to his age, the NYPD has not released the teenager’s identity. Charges against him were pending as the investigation continued.

Videos posted to X showed crowds scattering from the scene as multiple gunshots rang out. Dozens of NYPD officers rushed to the area, moving through the crowds to secure the scene and prevent further violence.

At least one of the injured was seen being placed on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance.

Police maintained a heavy presence in the area for hours following the incident, as crime scene investigators worked to collect evidence and interview witnesses.

The shooting disrupted late-night pedestrian traffic in the bustling tourist hub, which is typically filled with visitors and street performers well past midnight.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the victims were directly involved in the dispute or were bystanders caught in the crossfire. The NYPD is asking anyone with information or additional video of the shooting to contact its Crime Stoppers hotline.

The investigation remains ongoing.
