Stick to the corny (but kinda funny) commercials, Chuck.
Duke and UConn gave us an all-time thriller Sunday night to see who was going to punch their ticket to the Final Four, but the legendary Charles Barkley wanted to talk about something else: immigration policy.
The co-host of “Inside the NBA” hijacked the television broadcast (CBS/TNT) while the game was in the middle of a break, taking a story about UConn forward Alex Karaban and flipping it to a rant about the things going on in the U.S. regarding immigration. Fans, already on the edge of their seats, wanted some breakdown and maybe a little comedy from Chuck, but instead, he decided to put a target on the federal government, branding the nation’s immigration situation as “a travesty and a disgrace.”
Barkley‘s lecture came following a segment that went into how Karaban and his family moved from Ukraine and Belarus to the United States. He spoke about his irritation with how everything has been handled in terms of immigration.
“I love that kid and his family, but the way some of these other immigrants are getting treated in our country right now is a travesty and a disgrace,” said Barkley to his co-hosts.
