‘Trump 2032’ trends, Gavin Newsom mocked into oblivion after he’s trolled with Trump hat

California Gov. Gavin Newsom was ruthlessly mocked after he suffered a public meltdown over receiving a “Trump 2028” hat from one of President Donald Trump’s “biggest supporters”

During a press conference this Thursday at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, he was asked about immigration officials arresting an illegal alien right outside the museum.

The governor called the arrest “sick and pathetic” and then started ranting and raving about how Trump is an “authoritarian” who’s trying to rig the 2026 and 2028 elections so he can run for office again.

As proof, he cited a “Trump 2028” hat he’d received in the mail:

His crying fit quickly went viral and inspired some Trump supporters to taunt him further by making “Trump 2032” go viral on X.

“Sounds like someone needs a Trump 2032 hat,” one Trump supporter mockingly tweeted.

“Wait until Gov Newsom receives the Trump 2032 hat,” another Trump supporter tweeted.

The catch, of course, was that “Trump 2032” didn’t necessarily refer to President Trump. In some cases, it referred to his children.

“I’m voting for any member of the Trump family that runs for the office of President,” a Trump supporter explained. “Trump 2028, Trump 2032, Trump 2036 etc etc. LFG.”

Trump supporters mocked Newsom in other ways as well.

“We must ignore the popular will of the voters in California and gerrymander the state,” one Trump supporter sarcastically wrote, referencing Newsom’s newfound push to stack the deck.

“It’s the only way to save democracy. Someone sent me a Trump 2028 hat in the mail ffs! This must end! Do you know who else sometimes wore a hat? That’s right, Hitler,” the supporter added.

One of the only people on the right who’ve spoken seriously about Trump actually running for a third term is Steve Bannon.

“I’m a firm believer that President Trump will run and win again in 2028, so I’ve already endorsed President Trump,” he told host Chris Cuomo during a NewsNation appearance in March.

“A man like this comes along once every century if we’re a little lucky. We’ve got him now, he’s on fire, and I’m a huge supporter. I wanna see him again in 2028,” he added.

A skeptical Cuomo then brought up the fact that Trump’s term-limited.

“How do you think he gets another term?” he asked.

“We’re working on it,” Bannon replied without offering specifics. “I think we’ll have a couple of alternatives, let’s say that. We’ll see what the definition of term limit is.”

This response prompted even more questions from Cuomo.

“So you’re talking about litigating this issue?” he asked. “Because I don’t want people to listen to our interview and say, ‘Bannon’s cooking up an insurrection.’ You know what I mean? I want people to get a straight take on where your head is.”

“Chris, as you know, I’ve had greater long shots than this,” Bannon replied. “We’ve had greater long shots than Trump 2028 and we’ve got a lot of stuff we’re working on there. We’re not prepared to talk about it publicly, but in a couple months I think we will be.”

Months later, Trump himself has yet to make any indications that he intends to run again in 2028.
