Trump bashes ‘fake polls’ and touts November win

President Trump slammed the “fake polls” that show his approval rating as president is slipping.

In a phone appearance Wednesday on NewsNation’s ”Cuomo Town Hall,” Mr. Trump said the surveys oversample his critics, producing a false picture in order to support a biased media narrative.

“First of all, they’re fake polls. And if you take a look at the polls, for the most part, they interviewed more Democrats than they did Republicans, which is ridiculous and unfair,” Mr. Trump said as he phoned into the show.

“Democrats aren’t voting for Trump,” he said.

“They’re fake polls, number one, and I think it’s a very important thing to know that and to understand it. Polls are no different than fake writers or journalism, and it’s not a pretty thing when you watch,” he said.

Mr. Trump’s response came after co-host Bill O’Reilly asked whether the polls hurt his feelings.

“If I was, I’d be really helped by the fact that in the election, we won in a landslide,” he said.

Recent polls from The New York Times and The Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos have shown his approval rating slipping and Americans losing faith in the way he’s handled certain issues like the economy, tariffs and foreign affairs.

The recent New York Times/Siena College national poll of registered voters showed voters disapproved of Mr. Trump’s performance by a 42%-54% margin. The poll was comprised of 38% of 2024 Trump supporters, 38% of Kamala Harris supporters, 16% who did not vote, and the final 7% refused to say.

The Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos sample national survey of U.S. adults found that 39% approve and 55% disapprove. The poll included roughly 35% of 2024 Trump supporters.

A majority of adults disapproved of Mr. Trump’s handling of the economy (61%), tariffs (61%), U.S. relations with other countries (61%),  and immigration (53%).
