Another notable Democrat figure has come out and admitted that President Donald Trump deserves credit for the Israel-Gaza peace deal.
That Democrat figure, former Chicago mayor and Obama aide Rahm Emanuel, gave Trump credit during a C-SPAN discussion on Friday alongside former Vice President Mike Pence.
“I have no problem saying it: President Trump deserves credit here,” Emanuel bravely asserted. “Some of my party won’t say that. He does [deserve credit]. I also think it accrues to America’s benefit, and that is the United States is the essential power around the world.”
“We shouldn’t back off from that responsibility. And we just proved this in spades—something that neither Russia, China, nor any other country could have done what we just did. And that’s good for the United States,” Emanuel added.
However, Emanuel also gave credit to the Israeli public and the Palestinians in Gaza.
“Neither [Israeli Prime Minister] Bibi Netanyahu nor the leadership of Hamas would have done this if it wasn’t also pressure from the Israeli public or the Palestinians in Gaza Strip,” he said.
“They deserve a call-out for their own pressure, never giving up, going down to the vigils for the hostages, never giving in, the sense of pressuring,” he added.
Dovetailing back to Trump, Emanuel suggested that Trump should apply the same pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin that he’d applied on Netanyahu.
“Will the President take the lessons of how he applied pressure on Bibi Netanyahu to apply pressure on Putin, who is in a very vulnerable, weak position across the globe and in the region and in this war, which is a huge mistake and he knows it?” he said. “Will he take this lesson and do what he has never done in his career, apply pressure to Putin?”
Pence, for his part, also gave Trump credit despite his ongoing beefs with the man.
“I’m grateful for Rahm speaking plainly about giving President Trump credit here,” he said. “Look, I think the President’s consistent support for Israel doing what it had to do after the horrors of October 7th two years ago … [a]nd the ability to stay with Israel as they did what needed to be done and the president’s relentless pursuit for peace here and that of his team, I think, is to be commended.”
Emanuel isn’t the first Democrat to give Trump credit. Sen. John Fetterman has also given credit where it’s due:
I congratulate @POTUS on this historic peace plan that releases all the hostages.
Now, enduring peace in the region is possible.

Even New York City Democrat mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani, a veritable communist, has offered Trump credit to some degree.
“At what point would you decide that he does deserve credit for it?” Mamdani was asked by CNN host Kaitlan Collins on Friday.
“If the genocide ends, then I think that’s something worthy to be praised,” he replied. “And if the hostages are returned. Those things together have to be done in tandem.”
Meanwhile, Democrat Sen. Richard Blumenthal told CNN he’s “waiting to exhale” and see if Hamas actually releases the hostages by Monday.
If and when that happens, he added, “there’ll be credit for President Trump, which he deserves, and for others who participated in this really monumental accomplishment.”
“There’s still some obstacles on the way there, and I hope they can be surmounted,” he continued.
However, Blumenthal stopped short of endorsing the idea that Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.
“There’ll be plenty of time to decide what prizes, recognitions, honors should go to world leaders who have participated,” he said.
Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin also said he believes Trump deserves credit for the peace deal “if it works.”
“It’s off to a good start,” he said. “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We’re at the earliest stages of a proposed peace plan. I want it to work. Let’s watch and see.”
And lastly, Sen. Tim Kaine praised Trump, though he stressed that “obviously, we have to see how it progresses — ending the war, hostage release, humanitarian aid, and then the next chapter.”
