Ever since Donald Trump jumped into national politics, the Democratic Party has been terrified of his appeal to voters. The primary reaction, instead of substantive criticism, has been to smear him with ad hominem attacks. From the very beginning, Trump has been compared to Hitler.
Time Magazine: “The comparison between Hitler and Trump is so poignant.”
CNN: “Barack Obama was right” to compare the rise of Donald Trump to the rise of Adolf Hitler.
New York Magazine: “Like Hitler, Trump is a radical, authoritarian figure.”
The latest tag line from the Left is that Trump is destroying democracy. “Donald Trump’s four years in office were marked by gross abuses of executive power, including efforts to trample protest and dissent, key freedoms at the heart of our participatory democracy,” asserted the ACLU. “A second Trump administration threatens to use executive authority to further limit First Amendment freedoms, surveil Americans, and undermine democracy.”
“If some of us can be snatched off the streets without a warrant, based only on suspicion or skin color, then none of us are safe,” claimed Gov. Gavin Newsom. “Trump is trying to destroy our democracy. Do not let him.”
“Trump has embarked on a dizzying teardown of the federal government and attacks on long-standing institutions in an attempt to increase his own authority,” wrote Nicholas Riccardi at the Associated Press.
U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) has referred to what he calls Trump’s coordinated effort to dismantle the pillars of American democracy. “Trump is trying to intimidate journalists so that they’ll be afraid to tell the truth,” said Murphy. “He’s also trying to destroy the concept of truth itself.”
If we’re going to accuse an element of our government of attempting to destroy democracy, it really ought to be the Deep State—the unaccountable bureaucrats who run the show in Washington. Starting with Barack Obama, the powers of the federal government have been weaponized against political opponents of the Left. This police state strategy has been executed by the Deep State and supported by media controlled by the Democratic Party. This is what the Nazis and the Soviets did. Now it is happening here.
From a nation in which corrupt politicians once ruled with an iron fist, we have progressed to one in which elected politicians have surrendered control to an administrative class that makes the important decisions with little accountability or direction from anyone. They mostly live in the Washington, D.C., area and contribute heavily to the Democratic Party, whose values they espouse. Your vote means nothing when the people you elect to serve in Congress are not the ones who make the rules. The result is that our country is looking more and more like North Korea.
Let the record show that Donald Trump’s values are the opposite of fascist ones, while the Democrats embrace the totalitarian aim of bigger government at the expense of individual liberties, especially freedom of speech. The Swamp that Trump has sworn to drain is composed of the entrenched political hacks of the Deep State. They are terrified by the prospect of a political outsider who wants to wipe them out.
In addition to being the most transparent president of them all, Trump is doing the opposite of what would be expected from a tyrant. He is cutting enormous amounts of waste from Washington, eliminating unnecessary jobs from bloated bureaucracies, and enforcing laws that his immediate predecessors chose to ignore—especially immigration laws.
Most significantly, Trump clearly supports the U.S. Constitution, which cannot be said of Obama and Biden—the real destroyers of democracy. It is typical of Democrats to accuse their opponents of what they themselves are doing. Frankly, I’m sick of it, and I’m sick of what has become of the Democratic Party.
Under the ideological leadership of Obama and his disciples, the Democratic Party has been waging war on the Constitution. Obama and Biden attempted to demonize and prosecute anyone who denies the Left’s talking points, and they encouraged left-wing extremists to come out in the open. I take comfort that, under President Trump, the ideological balance is swinging back to a semblance of sanity.
