President Donald Trump said his first year in office stands as the most successful opening year of any administration in American history, citing the resolution of multiple international conflicts, a historic drop in violent crime, and what he described as record-setting border security.

In remarks highlighting domestic and foreign policy outcomes, Trump said the scope and pace of accomplishments during his first year were unmatched.

“This has been, I think, and a lot of people say it the most successful year of any administration in American history, first year there’s never been a first year like this,” Trump said.

Trump pointed first to foreign policy, saying his administration had played a role in ending multiple conflicts abroad.

“Including the fact that we put out extinguished eight wars,” he said.

“And another one we think is coming.”

Trump said diplomatic efforts remain ongoing, crediting senior officials and advisers with continued progress.

“Steve Witt Goff is working very hard and Jared and everybody else,” Trump said.

“And I think it’s coming.”

Turning to domestic issues, Trump pointed to newly released crime statistics showing a sharp decline in murders nationwide.

“It was just announced that the murder rate in our country is the biggest drop ever recorded,” Trump said.

“It’s at the lowest level in 125 years, first in recorded history.”

Trump repeated the milestone, emphasizing the scale of the reduction.

“It’s the lowest in at least 125 years,” he said.

“That’s a wonderful thing, and that crime is way down.”

Trump attributed the drop in violent crime in part to his administration’s immigration enforcement policies, saying dangerous individuals have been removed from the country or incarcerated.

“And one of the reasons was we’ve taken a lot of bad people and gotten them out of our country,” Trump said.

“Our country.”

He added that some individuals were deemed too dangerous to deport.

“In some cases, they’re so bad that we put them in prison because we don’t want them to even take a chance of coming back in,” Trump said.

Trump also emphasized border security, describing current conditions as historically strong.

“Even though our border is very secure, record setting secure,” he said.

He went further, claiming that no illegal border crossings resulting in entry had occurred for an extended period.

“We had zero illegal aliens being admitted into our country for the last eight months,” Trump said.

“That’s hard. That’s hard for even me to believe.”

Addressing skepticism about the figures, Trump said the data came from outside tracking sources.

“But the people that make up the lists are supposedly nonpartisan,” Trump said.

He added that even if critics argue those sources lean left politically, he accepts the results.

“But I would say they lean toward the Democrat side,” Trump said.

“And if they say that, I’m all for it.”
