President Donald Trump weighed in on Friday on whether former first lady Jill Biden should testify to Congress about the cover-up of her husband’s declining health.
Speaking to reporters from the Oval Office, he was asked by Fox News’ Peter Doocy whether the former first lady should have to testify.
“Well, I hate the concept of it,” the president replied.
“It’s the wife of a man who is going through a lot of problems, and everybody that dealt with him understood that,” Trump reflected.
“And I guess it came out during the debate loud and clear, that was the biggest signal of all … they have to do what is right. There was a lot of dishonesty in the election as you know, of 2020, that’s been now caught. People understand it was a rigged election,” he added.

Trump continued by bringing up the infamous autopen scandal.
“And when you go further out, when you see the auto pen, I think the auto pen is going to become one of the great scandals of all time,” he said. “Because you have somebody operating it, or a number of people operating it … cause I knew Joe Biden. Joe Biden wasn’t in favor of opening up borders and letting 21 million people in, from prisons and mental institutions and gang members, he wasn’t into that at all.”
“Who signed these orders, proclamations, and all of these different things that he signed, that were so bad for our country?” he added.
The remarks were made two days after House Oversight Committee chair James Comer told Fox News host Sean Hannity that both former President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, might be subpoenaed to testify about the autopen scandal.
“We’re going to see who was giving the directive to sign these,” he said. “If everyone says it was Joe Biden, then I’m certainly open to bringing him in. It’s harder to bring in a former president. The Democrats tried to bring Donald Trump into some things.”
“But at any rate, wherever the trail leads is where we’re going to bring them in. And look, I would love to ask Joe Biden a lot of questions, but right now, we’re starting with the staffers who are operating the autopen,” he added.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt also addressed the matter, telling reporters during a Thursday briefing that the former first lady should “certainly” speak openly about her husband’s obvious health decline.
“I think, frankly, the former first lady should certainly speak up about what she saw in regards to her husband and when she saw it and what she knew,” she said. “Because I think anybody looking again at the videos and photo evidence of Joe Biden with your own eyes and a little bit of common sense can see this was a clear cover-up. Jill Biden was certainly complicit in that cover-up.”
“There’s documentation, video evidence of her clearly shielding her husband away from the cameras. They were just on ‘The View’ last week. She was saying everything is fine. She’s still lying to the American people. She still thinks the American public are so stupid that they’re going to believe her lies, and, frankly, it’s insulting and she needs to answer for it,” the press secretary added.
Meanwhile, in the Senate, Republican Sens. Eric Schmitt and John Cornyn announced this week that they plan to co-chair a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing next month on the cover-up of Biden’s health decline.
“We need to get past the failures of the media, which were legend as you pointed out, or the political issue of ‘were you for Biden or against Biden?’” Cornyn said Thursday on Fox News’ “The Will Cain Show.”
“The question is: Who is in charge? Whose finger is on the nuclear button or has the nuclear codes? Who can declare war? How do we defend the nation when we have basically an absent president? And those are constitutional issues we need to address and correct,” he added. Cornyn said.
