Trump Ruthlessly Humiliates 60 Minutes, CBS, and Paramount as Lawsuit Moves Forward

President Donald Trump on Wednesday publicly criticized CBS, its parent company Paramount, and the television program 60 Minutes, accusing them of interfering in the 2024 presidential election by editing an interview with then-Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in a manner that allegedly concealed what he called a damaging response.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump stated that his lawsuit against the media entities “is a true WINNER” and accused them of having “cheated and defrauded the American People at levels never seen before in the Political Arena.”

Trump specifically alleged that 60 Minutes removed Harris’ original response to a question posed during early voting and replaced it with an answer she gave later in the interview in response to a different question.

“Kamala Harris, during Early Voting and, immediately before Election Day, was asked a question, and gave an answer, that was so bad and incompetent that it would have cost her many of the Votes that she ended up getting,” Trump wrote.

“60 Minutes and its corporate parents, in order that this not have a negative impact on her, removed and deleted Kamala’s entire answer, every word of it, and replaced it with a response that she gave later on to an entirely different question.”

“The new answer was not good,” Trump continued, “but it didn’t show Gross Incompetence like the one that was removed by 60 Minutes.”

The president accused the network of committing an “illegal creation of an answer for a Presidential Candidate,” calling for accountability.

“They have to pay a price for it, and the Times should also be on the hook for their likely unlawful behavior. It is vital to hold these Liars and Fraudsters accountable!” he added.

At the center of the controversy is a heavily edited segment aired on 60 Minutes featuring Kamala Harris.

CBS correspondent Catherine Herridge noted that the original version of Harris’ response was significantly altered before airing.

“60 Minutes did then-VP Harris a favor in the edit room,” Herridge wrote.

“Her lengthy, ‘word salad responses’ were heavily condensed into a final broadcast segment that felt succinct and presidential. I clocked one of Harris’ answers at over three minutes.”

Trump’s legal team filed a lawsuit against CBS and Paramount in late 2024, initially seeking $10 million in damages, later increasing the demand to $20 million.

The lawsuit claims that the network engaged in fraudulent concealment and misrepresentation, effectively editing Harris’ performance to influence public perception in her favor during a critical phase of the election cycle.

CBS has denied the allegations and maintains that its editorial practices are consistent with standard industry procedures.

The network argues that any editing of interviews is protected under the First Amendment and that the segment did not misrepresent Harris’ views or responses.

Following the lawsuit, a pro-Trump organization filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), accusing CBS of violating the agency’s “news distortion” policy.

The FCC is currently reviewing the complaint and has opened a public comment period on the matter.

CNN has reported that Trump and Paramount have agreed to enter mediation. However, the potential for a settlement has sparked internal concern at CBS.

According to The New York Times, some journalists at the network have expressed frustration over the possibility of settling with Trump.

“Trump’s lawsuit was a joke, but if we settle, we become the laughingstock,” one CBS correspondent told CNN on condition of anonymity.

While legal experts have noted that the First Amendment provides a substantial barrier to Trump’s claims, the case remains active as both sides proceed through mediation. The FCC has not indicated a timeline for its review of the complaint.
