Trump Threatens Legal Action Against ABC News Over “Free Plane” Report

President Donald Trump is threatening legal action against ABC News over a report suggesting he received a $400 million Boeing 747 “gift” from Qatar during his recent trip to the Middle East. The claim, which has since gone viral and sparked ridicule from late-night comedians, has Trump fuming.

“I give these SleazeBags fair warning!” Trump posted on Truth Social late Saturday, directing his ire toward Disney CEO Bob Iger, whose company owns ABC News. “Why doesn’t Chairman Bob Iger do something about ABC Fake News, especially since I just won $16,000,000 based on the Fake and Defamatory reporting of Liddle’ George Slopadopolus.” (RELATED: ‘You Should Be Embarrassed’: Trump Snaps At ABC News Reporter Confronting Him On Accepting Gift From Qatar)

Trump’s message references a defamation victory against ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos, who previously questioned the president’s denials in the E. Jean Carroll sexual assault case. That legal win appears to have emboldened Trump as he now sets his sights on ABC over the Qatar report.

“Everyone, including their lawyers, has been told that ABC must not say that Qatar is giving ME a FREE Boeing 747 Airplane, because they are not,” Trump wrote. “This highly respected country is donating the plane to the United States Air Force/ Defense Department, AND NOT TO ME.”

The controversy stems from Trump’s highly publicized visit to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia, where he was received with red-carpet treatment and praised their plans to invest over $1.4 trillion in the U.S. economy. The alleged Boeing jet—rumored but unconfirmed—has since become comedy fodder for liberal-leaning media, with HBO’s Bill Maher dubbing it “Allah Force One” and Stephen Colbert likening the trip to a Mideast fundraising tour.

“The wonderful country of Qatar… deserves much better than Misleading (Fake!) News,” he wrote.

Trump insisted it was a “great gesture” directed at the U.S. military, not himself. “I would never be one to turn down that kind of an offer,” he said. “But it was, I thought, a great gesture.”

ABC News has yet to issue a response.
