Trump wants flag burning left-wing miscreants locked up, as spox fights fake story about GITMO

Amid anonymous reports meant to “shock and horrify,” the president maintained a no-nonsense approach to handling anti-American “animals” with real consequences for flag burning.

“And we’ll see if we can get that done.”

California officials have continued to do their level best to gaslight the American people about the violent protests on the streets of Los Angeles while taking a stance that suggested federal laws did not apply in the once-Golden State. As even news anchors had grown fed up with witnessing “anarchists” at play, President Donald Trump zeroed in on the fiery displays against Old Glory as worthy of a year behind bars.

Marking the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army with a speech at Fort Bragg on Tuesday, Trump didn’t hold back when he described how protesters were hurling rocks at law enforcement officials. “These are animals.”

“But they proudly carry the flags of other countries, but they don’t carry the American flag,” he went on. “They only burn it. Did you see a lot of the flags being burned? … People that burn the American flag should go to jail for one year …  And we’ll see if we can get that done.”

Calling out elected officials in attendance to bolster support for the idea, the president had floated the potential penalty for any undignified burning of the American flag when he spoke with New York Post columnist Miranda Devine Monday for the premiere episode of her new podcast “Pod Force One.”

“I happen to think if you burn an American flag — because they were burning a lot of flags in Los Angeles — I think you go to jail for one year,” said Trump. “Just automatic.”

Meanwhile, efforts to demonize the mass deportation efforts of the administration found White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responding to a story from The Washington Post claiming the administration intended to transport illegal aliens to Guantanamo Bay.

“This story is Fake News. Not happening,” she captioned a report from the Post that had claimed, “The Trump administration is preparing to begin the transfer of potentially thousands of foreigners who are in the United States illegally to the U.S. military base in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, starting as early as this week, said U.S. officials familiar with the matter.”

Politico had previously reported that documents obtained supported the claim that 9,000 illegals were being vetted for transfer to the military base as a means to make room at domestic detention facilities. The outlet also noted that Cuba would merely be a deportation pitstop as the aliens would ultimately be sent to another country.

According to an anonymous State Department official, “The message is to shock and horrify people, to upset people. But we’re allies.”

As Trump had released a special message to new citizens Monday, he had also reaffirmed the idea that the country is a nation of citizens rather than immigrants, as the left so often argues, by telling troops at Fort Bragg, “The only flag that will wave triumphant over the streets of Los Angeles is the American flag — so help me God.”
