President Donald Trump blasted Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell this week, calling him a “TOTAL LOSER” for once again refusing to lower interest rates.
And that was just the beginning of the president’s input, as he said Powell “is TOO LATE, and actually, TOO ANGRY, TOO STUPID, & TOO POLITICAL, to have the job of Fed Chair,” insisting that he “is costing our Country TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS.”
Azoria, an American investment firm, filed a federal lawsuit last week against Powell, alleging that the central bank is violating federal transparency laws. CEO James Fishback, who called for the transcripts of this week’s closed-door meeting to be released, appeared on Fox News and was asked if he feels sorry for Powell when Trump criticizes him.
Reporter: Do you ever feel sorry for Jerome Powell when Trump criticizes him?
Me: “No, I don’t feel sorry for Jerome Powell. He’s worth over $200 million. Who I feel sorry for are the Americans who can’t get a mortgage because Powell refuses to lower interest rates from 20-year… pic.twitter.com/h5NJ5IAO7T

“No, I don’t feel sorry for Jerome Powell. He’s worth over $200 million,” Fishback said. “Who I feel sorry for are the Americans who can’t get a mortgage because Powell refuses to lower interest rates from 20-year highs. I feel sorry that they can’t start a family or can’t grow their family because they can’t buy a home. I feel sad for the single mom in East Baltimore or Cincinnati who can’t get a credit card because Jerome Powell is trying to undermine the duly elected President of the United States.”
Adding to Powell’s troubles is that for the first time in more than three decades, two of the seven members of the central bank’s board opposed the chair and voted to lower interest rates.
Keeping rates high hits the housing market hardest and serves as a drag on the economy, which could hurt Republicans in the midterm elections.
Fishback had plenty of company — here’s a sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
I do not feel sorry for him. They are intentionally making people suffer because they have the power to do so and they’re doing it because of political reasons and out of spite.

Sometimes I look at Powell and vibes of Joe Biden come through. 7 years younger than Trump yet looks like a father to Trump. He is what we call a stubborn old man.

I looked up his net worth and job history. Think about this, His longest job was 6 years. Job hopper.

End the Fed. Powell is holding back a generation of homebuyers from the American dream. It’s sad to see how many young people are relegated to the sidelines.

Jerome Powell could care less about the American people and the fact that mortgage rates are crushing and nobody can re-finance to try to get some relief
