Tucker Calls Out Gold Scams That Have Taken Advantage Of Seniors For Years

Daily Caller News Foundation co-founder Tucker Carlson called out gold scammers on Wednesday for taking advantage of conservative Christian senior citizens.

Two men from Los Angeles, California, allegedly scammed inexperienced investors by selling them gold and silver at wildly inflated prices, according to the AARP. Carlson said on “The Tucker Carlson Show” that individuals have lured seniors into gold and silver investments that were, in some cases, outright scams.

“In exchange for huge payouts, some of the most famous names in conservatism have consistently, for years, directed their viewers to gold companies that exploit them. In some cases, these companies were outright scams with outrageous terms and shocking margins. The primary target of all of this is the elderly,” Carlson said. “But these companies and their advertising strategies were so effective that people from every walk of life have been lured and have lost millions.” (RELATED: Tucker Carlson, Piers Morgan Punch Back AT Ben Shapiro Over Israel Feud)

Carlson also said that conservative media figures have poured millions of dollars into gold coins, causing many viewers to buy into these coins.

A civil complaint filed in Texas alleged that two men cheated at least 1,600 people, who were mainly between the ages of 60 and 90, and raked in more than $185 million by selling gold and silver at inflated prices, according to the AARP. The defendants allegedly targeted conservative Christians specifically by seeking out investors with ads on Facebook and conservative radio programs.

One investor was told there would be a stock market crash worse than the 2008 recession, while another investor in Alabama was told the government would seize money held in an IRA or other retirement account, according to the AARP.
