Tulsi Gabbard blasts media for ‘spreading fake news to manufacture division’ within Trump admin

The latest example of “dishonest media” found Tulsi Gabbard calling out efforts to “manufacture division” within President Donald Trump’s administration.

Despite the gravity of the situation before the commander-in-chief, endeavoring to plot a course for America’s best interest and ensuring Iran’s Islamist regime did not secure a nuclear weapon, corporate media appeared to have no qualms about sowing discord within his office. So it was that the president’s director of national intelligence shared her testimony in context after a snippet had been used to suggest she was at odds with Trump’s statements.

Not long after the president had spoken with reporters in New Jersey, Gabbard shared a clip of testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee from March with the caption, “The dishonest media is intentionally taking my testimony out of context and spreading fake news as a way to manufacture division. America has intelligence that Iran is at the point that it can produce a nuclear weapon within weeks to months, if they decide to finalize the assembly. President Trump has been clear that can’t happen, and I agree.”

In addition to the quote that had been circulating, the director proceeded to express how it had become less taboo in Iran to discuss nuclear weapons and that, “Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile is at its highest levels and is unprecedented for a state without nuclear weapons.”

Leading up to that remark, Gabbard stated, “Iran continues to seek expansion of its influence in the Middle East despite the degradation to its proxies and defenses during the Gaza conflict.”

Detailing the Islamist regime’s development of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones, and its willingness to use those weapons on U.S. forces in the region, she went on to say — and the media had latched onto — the intelligence community “continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and Supreme Leader Khamenei has not authorized the nuclear weapons program that he suspended in 2003.”

“The IC continues to monitor closely if Tehran decides to reauthorize its nuclear weapons program,” added the director.

Prior to sharing the clip, Trump had been asked by MSNBC’s Vaughn Hillyard, “What intelligence do you have that Iran is building a nuclear weapon? Your intelligence community has said that they have no evidence that they are at this point.”

Without accepting the premise, the president responded, “Well, then my intelligence community is wrong. Who in the intelligence community said that?”

After Hillyard said Gabbard, the president responded, “She’s wrong.”

Some saw that as an opportunity to fan the flames of purported disagreement within the White House, as Politico had quoted an unnamed senior administration official that said of Trump’s opinion of Gabbard, “I don’t think he dislikes Tulsi as a person … But certainly the video made him not super hot on her … and he doesn’t like it when people are off message,” after she posted a video with talk of the “brink of nuclear annihilation” amid “fomenting fear and tensions between nuclear powers.”

Contrary to those suggestions, the administration’s Rapid Response account on X shared Gabbard’s latest post and reminded, “[Gabbard’s] testimony has consistently backed up President Trump’s position — and shame on the media for trying to twist it and misrepresent the truth.”

“FACT: [Gabbard] has testified that Iran has produced levels of enriched uranium that is unprecedented for a nation without nuclear weapons,” stated the account on X. “FACT: If Iran decides to finalize its assembly, the weapon would be weeks away from being operational.”
