UAB Football Player Allegedly Stabs Multiple Teammates Inside Team Facility

The UAB Blazers football team chose to proceed with Saturday’s game against South Florida, doing so after two of their student-athletes were stabbed during the early morning inside the operations building of the program.

“UAB Police and Public Safety is investigating an assault that took place this morning at the Football Operations Center. Injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. The suspect is in custody, and there is no threat to campus,” per OutKick.

Jail records from Jefferson County, obtained by OutKick, reveal that Blazers offensive lineman Daniel Mincey has been booked on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault. Mincey transferred to UAB from Kentucky after the 2024 campaign.

Both victims were immediately transported to UAB hospital following the stabbing and received treatment for the injuries they suffered.

“We’re grateful to report that two players injured in an incident this morning at the Football Operations Building are in stable condition,” said UAB in an official statement, per OutKick. “Our thoughts are with them and their families as they recover. The suspect – another player – remains in custody.”

The university continued.

“An investigation is taking place. The team elected to play today’s game. UAB’s top priority remains the safety and well-being of all of our students. Given patient privacy and the ongoing investigation, we have no further comment at this time,” per OutKick.
