Guido has asked departments what VPNs they use and their cost. Funnily enough the Treasury says it can “neither confirm nor deny that it holds information in relation to your request as the duty in section 1(1)(a) of the FOI Act does not apply, by virtue of section 24(2). Section 24 relates to safeguarding national security… Balanced against this is the important public interest in safeguarding national security and we consider that the wider public interest lies in safeguarding.”
