Unmaking Whoopi – The American Spectator | USA News and PoliticsThe American Spectator

Whoopi Goldberg really stepped in it — just in time for last week’s Juneteenth federal holiday.

The aging, balding, previously-funny “comedienne” babbled wildly Wednesday on ABC’s far-Left “news” program, The View. During this daily hour of Anti-Trump Power, Goldberg questioned U.S. hostility to the Islamic Republic of Iran (even as President Donald J. Trump organized Saturday’s majestic act of gender-affirming care upon the mullahs’ atomic weapons program). Goldberg’s co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, an alumna of the Trump 45 White House, reminded her that “the Iranians literally throw gay people off of buildings. They don’t adhere to basic human rights.”

Does this woman have any sense of self-awareness?

“Let’s not do that!” Goldberg exploded, “because if we start with that, we have been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car. Listen, I’m sorry, they used to just keep hanging black people.”

How warped.

Yes, America has witnessed incidents of anti-gay violence. But this is not public policy. As my Fox News colleague Guy Benson crisply observed, homophobic killers attack gays, and for that, this country’s officials prosecute them.

In Iran, conversely, the anti-gay murderers are government workers. This distinction is enormous, albeit too small for Goldberg to detect.

What is impossible to miss is the surfeit of pro-gay flags, streamers, parties, parades, exhibits, sponsorships, and boatloads more during Pride Month. While a handful of barbarians occasionally target gays for violence, tens of millions of Americans celebrate homosexuality every June. And hundreds of millions just don’t care — which sure beats getting fatally catapulted from a Persian rooftop.

As for “hanging black people,” the website Lynching in America states: “Racial terror lynchings were not limited to the South, but the Southern states had the most in the nation: over 4,000 between 1877 and 1950.”

Was this a massive, bloody outrage? Yes. Is it part of today’s American experience? No.

Lynching began to wane 75 years ago. This heinous practice has been virtually extinct since America buried Jim Crow in a deep grave called the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Back to The View. Griffin said: “It’s very different to live in the United States in 2025 than it is to live in Iran.”

“Not if you’re black!” Goldberg snapped.

Astonishing.

Does this woman have any sense of self-awareness?

Whoopi Goldberg is an EGOT. She is one of only 21 individuals worldwide who have been awarded all four of America’s top awards for artistic merit: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

As a black woman, does Goldberg really believe that, if she lived in Iran, she (or any female) would score the Islamic Republic’s equivalent of the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony?

I don’t think that’s likely somehow!

(Iran’s Tony Award might be bestowed upon the performer with the best display of jazz hands while sporting a suicide vest.)

If America really is so racist that blacks should flee the USA for Tehran, with all deliberate speed, then how on Earth did Whitey let Whoopi become an EGOT? Never mind her. How the hell did Whitey allow Viola Davis, Jennifer Hudson, and John Legend (all black) into the EGOT pantheon?

If America’s racism is worse for blacks than life under the ayatollahs, how is it that Goldberg finds herself on national TV for one hour daily, every Monday through Friday? Why have white bigots hired her to lead top films, musicals, and nightclub appearances? These wicked Caucasians even permitted her to amass a $60 million fortune, as the Daily Mail estimated in May 2024. How could that be?

If AmeriKKKa is more hostile to blacks than Iran is, can Goldberg explain how Merck, somehow, invited Kenneth C. Frazier, a black man, to serve as the pharmaceutical company’s CEO from 2011 to 2021? Marvin Ellison, a black man, is CEO of home-improvement giant Lowe’s. Thasunda Brown Duckett, a black woman, is CEO of TIAA, the massive pension fund. René F. Jones, a black man, is CEO of the M&T Bank. Did this country’s white racists miss these and many other successful blacks as they climbed countless corporate ladders?

America has been governed by Democrat attorneys general Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, Republican secretaries of state Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice, Democrat Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Republican Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Democrat Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, Vice President Kamala Harris, and President Barack Obama. They are all black. Would they be better off in Iran? And how racist is America, really, if its voters elected some of these people to office, and an overwhelmingly white U.S. Senate confirmed the nominations of the rest?

And what about the other 46.6 million black Americans who travel daily to schools, offices, factories, farms, and non-profits from coast to coast? Few are famous. They quietly mind their business, earn their paychecks, obey the law, and care for themselves and their friends, families, and loved ones. Would they savor better lives in Isfahan, Tabriz, or Shiraz?

I doubt it.

In the spirit of Juneteenth, Americans should ignore Goldberg’s unintentionally hilarious nonsense and, instead, meditate on the incalculable contributions that blacks have made — and still make — to this society since slavery ended in 1865.

Meanwhile, rather than cascade trash like a flipped garbage truck, Whoopi Goldberg should remember just how shabbily she would be treated in Iran and how glorious she has it in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
