Vikings Icon Adrian Peterson Busted for DWI After Draft Party Appearance [WATCH]

Former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was arrested early Friday morning in Minnesota on a fourth-degree driving while impaired (DWI) charge, according to TMZ Sports.

Peterson, 40, was pulled over by law enforcement at approximately 3:20 a.m. after allegedly driving 83 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone.

After being stopped, Peterson was given a breathalyzer test and reportedly registered a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .14, nearly double the legal limit of .08 in Minnesota.

Peterson was subsequently booked into the Hennepin County Jail at 5:16 a.m., where he posed for a mugshot.

According to jail records obtained by Bring Me the News, Peterson’s bail was set at $4,000.

His initial court appearance is scheduled for May 9.

In Minnesota, a fourth-degree DWI is classified as a misdemeanor and is typically applied to first-time offenders.

Peterson, who last played in the NFL in 2021, has faced several legal issues throughout his post-playing career.

In 2014, he was indicted by a grand jury on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child.

He later pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of recklessly assaulting his son.

As a result, Peterson was suspended by the NFL for all but one game during the 2014 season.

In 2016, Peterson faced legal trouble over financial matters, defaulting on a loan.

More recently, in 2024, personal assets were seized from Peterson to satisfy an $8.3 million debt owed to DeAngelo Vehicle Sales LLC.

Peterson was also arrested in 2022 following a domestic incident involving his wife, Ashley Peterson, while on board a flight from Los Angeles to Houston.

He was removed from the aircraft, and authorities initially filed a domestic violence charge against him.

However, Ashley Peterson later characterized the event as a verbal argument and stated that Adrian Peterson had not physically struck her.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office ultimately dropped the charge.

Despite his legal issues, Peterson is regarded as one of the most accomplished running backs in NFL history.

He was named the league’s Most Valuable Player in 2012 and earned four All-Pro selections during his career.

Peterson finished his NFL tenure with 14,918 rushing yards and 120 touchdowns.
