Cries of corruption continued to ring out from an infamous Virginia school district as a job posting from the superintendent begged the question as to what would be next, “a cook and a driver?”
Even after virtual education efforts during the draconian response to COVID had helped expose the considerable extent of indoctrination in government-run schools, Virginia’s Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) had plowed ahead with the hiring of Michelle Reid as superintendent in 2022.
Adding to the growing list of concerns that included scandals and apparent support for advancing leftist ideologies, the public official dubbed “Queen Reid,” who now earns more than the president of the United States, published a job posting seeking a taxpayer-funded personal bodyguard.
Fox News reported Sunday that the job, “Executive Protection Agent,” posted to the online recruitment platform BrassRing detailed a pay rate between $84,552 and $143,880, more than 50% higher on the low end of the average starting salary for a new teacher in the district.
“The Executive Protection Agent is responsible for ensuring the personal safety, security and operational continuity of the division superintendent across school campuses, public events, official travel, and private residences,” read the listing.
Thanks to a vote in November 2024 to renew her contract for another four-year term, Reid found her own salary bumped up from $380,000 to $424,146, along with a $12,000 annual car allowance, well exceeding the official salary of the president at $400,000, which President Donald Trump instead donates to charity.
“What’s next for Reid — a cook and a driver?” wondered local mother and Independent Women’s Network chapter leader Stephanie Lundquist-Arora in an op-ed.
“Aside from the fact that issuing a personal security detail for a public school superintendent is excessive, incredibly rare, and likely hasn’t happened at all,” wrote Lundquist-Arora, “our local community is in a budget crisis. In fiscal year 2026, the school district faces a $121 million shortfall and is at risk of losing about another $168 million in federal funding for Title IX violations. Furthermore, with the ongoing downsizing of the federal government, the health of Fairfax County’s local budget isn’t likely to improve soon.”
In furthering her grievance, Fox News reported the mother saying, “Queen Reid demands all the luxuries suitable to her station. It’s all ‘equity for thee, but not for me.’”
Earlier this year, FCPS was placed under scrutiny by the U.S. Department of Education when a probe was launched over an alleged overhaul of the admissions policy at the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, said to have been aimed at denying Americans of Asian descent access “to achieve racial balancing.”
Elsewhere in the district at West Springfield High School, indoctrination had appeared to replace instruction as Reid supported a Women’s History Month display that promoted “A is for Abortion” alongside other ideologically-laden messages such as “T is for Trans Women” and “Q is for Queer.”
“Often, women’s history is excluded from traditional history texts and instruction,” argued the superintendent. “I respect the right of our students to respectfully share their honest, comprehensive historical perspective that is relevant to them as young adults and in keeping with the assignment guidance. This is critical thinking — an integral part of our educational experience for our soon-to-be graduating high school students.”
In addition to having wide-open availability, the job required a “high level of discretion” and for the applicant to “maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of the role,” as National School Safety and Security Services president Kenneth Trump had expressed, “They are basically asking for a personal bodyguard for the superintendent,” something that “is not a normal or customary position.”
Meanwhile, FCPS Office of Communications media outreach specialist Steven Brasley had argued the district had “long provided a security presence for the superintendent at public-facing events” and the new posting “formalizes responsibility for executive protection — including personal security for the superintendent during various activities — while also supporting a wider array of responsibilities within the Office of Safety and Security that support the entire school division.”
