VP JD Vance Hits Back at Viral Photo Claiming Restaurant Argument

Vice President JD Vance pushed back Tuesday against a viral photo circulating on social media that claims to show him involved in an argument with his wife, Usha, inside a restaurant, as reported by The New York Post.

The undated and unverified image shows Vance in a white T-shirt, appearing to scowl while seated across from his wife, whose head is tilted downward with her hand resting on her face.

The photo began circulating widely after Facebook user Thomas Clay Jr. posted it on Dec. 5, writing, “Looks like things are not so good in Republicanistan.”

The post attracted a wave of commentary from critics of the administration, with many claiming the picture suggested marital strain, while others questioned whether the image was authentic. Several commenters speculated that the photo appeared to be AI-generated.

Vance responded directly to the circulating image on X, offering a sharply worded line aimed at those spreading the narrative.

“I always wear an undershirt when I go out in public to have a fight loudly with my wife,” he wrote.

The vice president and his wife have faced occasional online speculation about their marriage since October, after Vance was photographed embracing Erika Kirk, the widow of late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

That moment prompted additional attention to public appearances involving the Vance family.

In November and December, Usha Vance appeared without her wedding ring at two separate events with First Lady Melania Trump.

Her spokesperson responded to questions about the missing ring, saying the second lady “does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.”

During an interview with NBC News last week, Vance dismissed the online rumors about their marriage and indicated the couple was unfazed by the speculation, saying they “kind of get a kick out of it.”

The administration has not provided further comment on the origin of the circulating image or whether any steps will be taken to verify or debunk it.
