Fox’s Greg Gutfeld blasted Democrats Thursday on “The Five” for trying to “escape their own culpability” in fostering the environment that led to a trans-identifying male opening fire at the Annunciation Catholic Church.
Officials identified Robin Westman, a male in his 20s, as the alleged gunman who killed two children and injured at least 17 others in Minnesota on Wednesday. While discussing how Democrats have defended the “trans community” following the attack, Dana Perino asked Gutfeld for his reaction, noting that he had predicted such an incident was “going to happen again.” (RELATED: Fmr FBI Profiler Tells Feds What Physical Clues They Need To Determine What Made MN Shooter ‘Do What He Did Today’)
“Yes, this is why none of these a-holes can lecture anyone on compassion. The most compassionate people on this planet are trying to stop the trans delusion,” Gutfeld said. “The least compassionate are the people in the media, academia, and politicians who enabled this hysteria of horror. What is so glaring about the trans cult? Apparently, your identity is the only thing that matters until you do something awful. Then it’s the least important variable.”
“Then you look at everything else. You talk about guns, but you suddenly, it’s all of a sudden like, oh, we can’t talk about that. What was it? The other trans shooter, that they actually hid her identity,” Gutfeld added. “In this manifesto that this creep wrote, he said he was tired of being trans and that he had wished he had never brainwashed himself. What more do you need straight from the monster’s mouth? Politicians, activists, teachers, you built this. You could have listened to the warnings. We were talking about this on this show for years.”
The same day as the attack, Democrat Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey spent a full minute of his press conference defending the “trans community.” Frey said anyone using the shooting as “an opportunity to villainize our trans community” or others “has lost their sense of common humanity.”
In addition to Frey defending trans members, other Democrats criticized the Trump administration for not pushing for stricter gun control. On X, former White House press secretary Jen Psaki wrote that “prayers” are “not freaking enough” to stop school shootings.

Gutfeld went on to say that Democrats “created a poisonous program” for young kids, referring to the party’s push of transgenderism, including medical treatments such as sex changes for children.
“You amplified a hysterical, literally hysterical phenomenon that was going no place good. You created a poisonous program that twisted young minds for destruction, a nihilistic place to be when you deny biology and they have nowhere to go,” Gutfeld said. “So all of these media arguments, what you’re seeing there among those people, it’s to escape their own culpability and the reality that they created.”
“So forget the layer of mental illness and gun control. The origin of the evil lies in the creation of a mindset that indulged a delusional self, ruining connections with fellow human beings,” Gutfeld said. “So that trans, by ascribing extreme aggrieved mentality, then gets directed against society. So this person feels justified in killing children. His killing resulted from that ideology. And if you don’t believe that, you’re one dumb asshole.”
In 2019, Westman changed his name from Robert to Robin after identifying as a woman. According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, court records show that while Westman was still a minor, his mother, who worked at the Annunciation Catholic Church, applied to change his name from Robert Paul to Robin M. The application said the change was necessary because Westman “identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification.”
Videos of the gunman’s manifesto were uploaded to a YouTube account that bore Westman’s name, showing disturbing footage of multiple guns, cartridges and ammunition with cryptic statements written on them. Phrases like, “Where is your God?,” “6 million wasn’t enough,” “kill pedos” and calls to kill President Donald Trump could be seen as the cartridges were shown to the camera.
In addition to the videos, the alleged gunman wrote in his manifesto that he “was tired of being trans,” wishing he had “never brainwashed” himself with the ideology.
