A statement published by the Welsh government says “despite the improvement, overall NHS Wales emissions have increased over the same period, largely as a result of emissions attributed to the health service’s large supply chain.” So it’s even getting worse…
The government is boasting about its “refreshed NHS Wales Decarbonisation Strategic Delivery Plan” and has even carried a quote from Labour Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care Jeremy Miles:
“We are striving for a more sustainable health system, which will reduce its impact on the environment and provide wider benefits to public health.”
The current waiting list figure in Wales is 793,058 and Miles has vowed to cut it by 200,000. It has risen over the summer…
A bemused Reform UK Wales spokesperson tells Guido:
“It is absurd that the Welsh Government is allocating time and resources to bringing down emissions in our NHS, when they can barely bring down waiting lists in our NHS… They’d rather spend time talking about green targets than rolling their sleeves up and fixing the NHS they’ve broken.”
Is this what Labour means when they say they should “learn from Zohran”…
