White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is having a baby.
In a social media post Friday, Ms. Leavitt announced that she is expecting a baby girl in May. She currently has one son, Niko, born in July 2024, with her husband Nicholas Riccio, 60.
“The greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for — a baby girl coming in May 2026,” wrote Ms. Leavitt, 28.
“My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother,” she wrote. “My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth.”
Ms. Leavitt is the youngest person to serve as White House press secretary. She was 27 when Mr. Trump appointed her to the position in 2024.
“I am also extremely grateful to President Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House. 2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!”
Ms. Leavitt has brought her son to work with her before – most recently for the Thanksgiving turkey pardon that took place at the White House.
She was the national press secretary for Mr. Trump’s 2024 campaign before taking her role in the press briefing room.
She met her husband, a real estate developer, in 2022 during her congressional campaign in New Hampshire.
