The White House took to X to do some spin correction on The New York Times’s headline on Democratic Sen. Chris Van Hollen’s meeting with Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
Abrego Garcia has been the subject of much political controversy, with President Donald Trump’s administration believing he is an “MS-13 illegal alien” and the left calling him a “wrongfully deported man” who is the victim of an overzealous immigration policy.
On Friday, the official X account of the White House posted a “fix” for the piece, making some noteworthy alterations to the outlet’s coverage of Van Hollen’s meeting with the deported man in El Salvador.
Fixed it for you, @NYTimes.

In a follow-up, they wrote that Attorney General Pam Bondi spoke to Fox News about Abrego Garcia, saying definitively that he “is not coming back to our country.”

“President Bukele said he was not sending him back. That’s the end of the story,” Bondi explained. “If he wanted to send him back, we would give him a plane ride back. There was no situation, ever, where he was going to stay in this country. None.”
These remarks come after the Supreme Court ordered the Trump administration to “facilitate” the return of Abrego Garcia from El Salvador. That plan ran into a snag when Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele refused to cooperate with the demand.
As BizPac Review previously reported, Bukele’s rejection of the SCOTUS’s order sent Democrats spiraling.
“How could I return him to the United States? I smuggle him to the United States? Of course, I’m not going to do it. The question is preposterous,” Bukele scoffed. “I don’t have the power to return him to the United States. I’m not releasing — I mean, we’re not very fond of releasing terrorists into our country.”
“President Bukele’s comment today is pure nonsense. The law is clear, due process was grossly violated, and the Supreme Court has clearly spoken that the Trump administration must facilitate and effectuate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia,” reads a statement from Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
