Whoopi Agrees with Donald Trump on Air—Cue the Sudden Commercial Break [WATCH]

A rare moment unfolded on Tuesday’s episode of The View when longtime co-host Whoopi Goldberg appeared to side with President Donald Trump’s stance on dismantling the Department of Education—only to be cut off moments later for a commercial break.

As reported by The Western Journal, the incident occurred during a live discussion on recent comments by President Trump regarding scaling back or potentially eliminating the federal Department of Education.

Goldberg, who is known for her strong opposition to the Trump administration, surprised viewers by entertaining the idea that the move could actually benefit American students.

“You know, they’re trying to take apart the Department of Education,” Goldberg said during the segment. Then, instead of launching into criticism, she added, “Maybe that is a good thing.”

Her unexpected comment was met with silence from the typically vocal panel and audience. Goldberg continued:

“Maybe it will force us to make sure that our kids actually get what they need. Maybe it’ll force us to go to our state, and say, ‘listen, I want to make sure since you’re taking all this money from my taxes, I want to make sure that my kids get exactly what they need.’”

She further stated, “I don’t have to wait for the government to do it. We can do it. This is in our hands and it’s going to be tough, and nobody wants to do it, because it’s a b**ch. But you know what? If it comes down to your survival, this what you’ve got to do. You’ve got to take care of what you’ve ot to take care of—”

Before she could finish, Goldberg paused and said, “And they’re telling me that we’re going to be right back,” signaling the abrupt commercial break.

While commercial interruptions are common on daytime talk shows, the timing of this particular break raised questions online.

The segment, which was posted on the social media platform X, quickly gained traction as viewers noted the rare moment of agreement with President Trump from one of his frequent media critics.

The clip drew attention not only for Goldberg’s comments but also for the lack of reaction from her co-hosts and audience. Aside from a brief smattering of applause before the cutaway, the room remained largely quiet.

Although there is no official indication that Goldberg was silenced for her remarks, speculation spread on social media. Some users questioned whether the network sought to avoid airing anything that could be interpreted as support for Trump’s policies.

As of Wednesday morning, ABC had not commented on the segment or the decision to go to break during Goldberg’s remarks.

The Department of Education has long been a target of conservative criticism, with many on the right arguing that education decisions should be handled by states and local governments rather than managed federally.

Goldberg’s monologue aligned, at least in part, with that viewpoint—an unusual moment for a program that rarely echoes conservative messaging.
