Opinion:
Black career criminal Decarlos Brown, Jr.’s race matters much more than many on the left and even some on the right would like to admit.
To recap, over the weekend, Brown, Jr. ruthlessly murdered 23-year-old white Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska aboard a light rail in Charlotte, North Carolina, by stabbing her to death. After he murdered Zarutska, Brown was heard on camera saying, “I got that white girl.”
“I GOT THAT WHITE GIRL!” – Decarlos Brown, after stabbing Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska to death.
She fled war for safety in America—only to be murdered for being WHITE. But media calls it “random”? NOT a hate crime? Wake up! This is the blood on Dem hands. pic.twitter.com/o0UBBSkwiR

His record shows that he’d been released on cashless bail over and over again despite an extensive criminal history and that he suffers from severe schizophrenia.
The response to Brown’s actions and Zarutska’s tragic death has been two-fold, with roughly half of people blaming black criminality and soft-on-crime laws, and the other half blaming mental illness.
The truth is that while both sides have a point, the one blaming black criminality and soft-on-crime laws has a more salient one.
#1. The fact is that there’s this pernicious idea on the left that because black people were enslaved centuries ago, it’s mandatory that we in the modern age tolerate and make excuses on their behalf when one of their contemporaries engages in bad behavior, including criminality.
This manifests itself in the real world with soft-on-crime policies that allow career criminals of all races (and illegal aliens) to commit senseless murders like those of Zaruska, RIP.
Iryna Zarutska should still be alive.
But Democrats, liberal judges, and weak prosecutors would rather push a woke, soft-on-crime agenda than lock up violent offenders.

#2. It’s also a fact that black people — particularly young black men — disproportionately commit the most interracial crime, according to FBI crime data.
And despite claims otherwise from the excuse-making, enabling left, this has nothing to do with poverty or so-called “systemic racism.” It’s all about culture, values, and family, which, sadly, are lacking in many (but not all) black communities.
This is a problem that could potentially be fixed, except that nobody wants to acknowledge the truth about the black community’s abundance of broken homes.
According to BJS National Crime Victimization Survey (2017-2021), of Black-White interracial violent incidents, ~86% were Black offender/White victim, ~14% White offender/Black victim.
FBI homicide data (2019) shows ~70% Black-on-White, ~30% White-on-Black.
Most violent crimes…

#3. How the corporate press has handled Zarutska’s murder speaks volumes. First, they completely ignored it because the murder features a black perpetrator and a white victim.
Public outrage eventually prompted the corporate press to respond, which they did by framing the story more as an issue of “MAGA stoking racial tension and crime fears.”
Yet had a white man stabbed to death a black woman on a rail, it’s obvious as the day is long that there would have been national, wall-to-wall coverage, in addition to a months-long conversation about race. But when it’s the other way around, we get this:
The New York Times finally deigns to report on the murder of Iryna Zarutska and frames it as a Republicans pounce story about “perceived failings.” As if a career criminal released 14 times before killing her is just a matter of perception. And then look at the photo they chose. pic.twitter.com/M2gjnQqkHM

#4. And lastly, race matters because what we have on our hands is a civil rights matter that can be traced all the way back to Rosa Parks.
“This is as great a civil rights crisis as this country has ever faced,” conservative commentator Matt Walsh explained earlier in the week. “We’re told that it’s a civil right to ride the bus, to use public accommodations. That’s what the Rosa Parks story was all about. And I agree, it is a civil right.”
“So what happens when normal, law-abiding people can’t use these accommodations anymore because violent criminals might stab them in the neck? Is that a civil rights issue? Undoubtedly, it is. But unlike the 1960s, mainstream news outlets aren’t talking about it. There are no marches or protests on behalf of women who are being slaughtered in lifts, in parks, on light rail cars, and so on,” he added.
This image will define the new civil rights movement. We have a right to use public accommodations without being butchered in our seats. We have a right to safe communities where violent animals are rounded up and caged. This is not just a local crime. It’s a civil rights issue. pic.twitter.com/3VuADE6thr
