Will Cain has had just about enough of Jake Tapper’s book tour

Daily Caller News Foundation

Fox News host Will Cain on Thursday expressed exhaustion over CNN anchor Jake Tapper’s “Original Sin” book tour following his Wednesday appearance on Stephen A. Smith’s podcast.

During Tapper’s interview on “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” the CNN anchor said none of the sources for his book on former President Joe Biden’s decline showed remorse for covering it up — and criticized elected New York prosecutors for campaigning on targeting President Donald Trump. Cain, on “The Will Cain Show,” condemned Tapper by asserting his “revelations” on his book tour are facts many Americans knew for years, but were unable to express without backlash.

“One of the things I noticed for years of doing sports media is there’s a horrible trend in the media, and it is to say what is easy and what is popular. But don’t stop there. Swim out into the middle of the river, find that main channel, stay within the safe space, but then try to be the most passionate, try to be the most inflammatory, in saying the thing that everyone already believes,” Cain said. “Over the last decade, it’s been popular and easy to say that President Trump is guilty of breaking the law or President Trump is a would-be authoritarian. That was safe in their circles and they ran into insanity to be the loudest and most inflammatory in saying those things.”

“They defended President Biden at every turn, and I am, for one, exhausted today to wake up and continue to give credit and see the revelations of the mainstream media reporting that the sky is blue, for years of telling us the sky is red — when you and I know the sky is blue,” he continued. “So I am exhausted of hearing stuff like this from Jake Tapper.”

Cain then played the clip of Tapper saying none of his sources expressed regret over the cover-up or expressed that “it was a mistake” in hindsight. Afterward, he pivoted to criticizing Tapper for telling Smith that it was “problematic” for New York Attorney General Letitia James to pledge to prosecute Trump during her campaign for her position.

“Enough of Jake Tapper, who had the nerve to tell Stephen A. Smith that he also now sees that Letitia James was engaged in lawfare. We knew that,” Cain said. “Those of us willing to tell the truth were called a conspiracy theorist. We were called irresponsible. I don’t need to wake up today once more to hear a new revelation from Jake Tapper for something you and I knew for the past half a decade.”

Tapper has also received substantial pushback for writing the book due to his past failure to probe Biden’s cognitive decline.

NewsNation host Chris Cuomo asserted on May 21 that Tapper’s book is itself a cover-up — of how the media had hoped for Biden to defeat Trump — as it claims Biden’s inner circle concealed his decline, thereby hampering the media’s ability to report on it.

“I do believe the book is a cover for something. It’s a cover for something that’s much more serious to me than Biden’s age and stage ever were: the reality that many in the media knew damn well that Biden was losing it, but they played it down because they wanted Trump to lose more,” Cuomo said. “The original sin is not hiding Biden’s age and stage, but hiding this preference.”

Even Tapper has repeatedly acknowledged during his book tour that he did not report on Biden’s decline sufficiently, saying he reflected on his coverage with “humility.”
