Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell, a rabid Democrat, has been accused of undermining the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
The accusation centers around O’Connell’s repeated decision to publicize information about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, its operations, and, more concerningly, its agents.
According to Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles, a Republican, earlier this month, O’Connell “issued an executive order directing city agencies to track and report all interactions with federal immigration authorities.”
At the time, Ogles accused the mayor of “using his office to obstruct lawful enforcement and shield criminals—not just putting neighborhoods at risk, but eroding the rule of law.”
Nashville Mayor O’Connell supports pro-illegal policies and his actions indicate a possible use of municipal resources to undermine President Trump. I sent a letter to Chairs Mark Green and Jim Jordan, demanding we get to the bottom of it.

Ogles doubled down during a Memorial Day press conference.
“I will always stand on the rule of law and with ICE,” he said. “And I don’t just stand with ICE, I’ll stand in front of ICE because we the people have had enough.”
“Due to the remarks of Freddie O’Connell and the potential for aiding and abetting illegal immigration, the Homeland Security and the judiciary committees will be conducting an investigation into the mayor of Nashville, his conduct and whether or not federal dollars have been used in criminal enterprise,” he added.
But things have only gotten worse since.
This week, O’Connell had the city of Nashville publish a spreadsheet containing information about 35 interactions that the Metro Nashville Police Department has had with ICE agents. The spreadsheet included the names of the ICE agents:
TONIGHT AT 9: Mayor Freddie O’Connell has made Metro ICE activity public including names of DHS/HSI officials. Rep. Andy Ogles says this puts agents in danger. Mayor O’Connell says the communication is for transparency. Link of data: https://t.co/c4QIl4mj8z@FOXNashville pic.twitter.com/Myxt37Q5Ng

The release of the names prompted even more blowback from Ogles, among other Republicans.
“Nashville’s woketivist mayor is DOXXING federal law enforcement,” the congressman wrote on X. “By publicly posting the names of DHS and ICE agents, he’s handing intel to gangs like MS-13, who can now track down and potentially target these officers.”
Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn also lashed out at O’Connell.
“[He] is putting ICE agents and law enforcement in harm’s way by releasing their names for criminal gangs to see,” she said in a tweet. “These men and women have risked their lives to make our communities safer by removing gangs, rapists, and other heinous criminals from our communities. Shame on him.”

DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin has also taken note of O’Connell’s recent actions.
“It certainly looks like Mayor O’Connell was involved in some sort of obstruction or the harboring of criminal illegal aliens in the great city of Nashville,” she said this week on Newsmax.
“But also just last night, his office put out the names of Homeland Security investigators and doxxed our ICE enforcement officers. They claimed it was a mistake. There’s zero chance it was a mistake and there will be repercussions,” she added.

As noted by McLaughlin, O’Connell has since backtracked.
“O’Connell’s office said including names is ‘not the normal practice’ and added that any names mistakenly included have been removed,” according to local station WSMV.
O’Connell’s critics have also called for an investigation or audit into The Belonging Fund, a community project designed to help struggling illegal alien families.
