World Baseball Classic: USA-Mexico Game Brings In History-Making Ratings For Fox

The ratings for the 2026 World Baseball Classic have already been a huge success for Fox and the entire sport of baseball, but when we got to Monday night’s game between Team USA and Mexico, things got cranked up to a new level.

It was announced Wednesday night by Fox Sports that the WBC telecast of the United States and Mexico brought in an average number of 5.018 million viewers across Fox and Fox Deportes, with that figure hitting a peak of 5.649 million in the 9:00-9:15 p.m. ET time window. To put those ratings into perspective, it was a whopping 215% increase compared to a 2003 WBC pool play contest featuring the Americans — the only one carried by Fox and Fox Deportes. The USA-Mexico game leaves the Saturday contest between the U.S. and Great Britain in the dust, which brought in an average of 2.98 million viewers. At the time, the United States and Great Britain pulled in the second-highest viewership ever for the WBC, coming just behind the WBC Final from 2023 that saw the Americans and Japanese square off. That contest saw an average of 4.48 million viewers.

Fast forward, and the USA-Mexico game is now the most-watched WBC contest ever for Fox, with over five million viewers watching the United States get a 5-3 victory
