‘Would yall’ put Mickey Mouse in handcuffs?’ Bodycam video Chuck E. Cheese mascot arrest is nuts

Bodycam footage of a famous mascot’s arrest is just as chaotic and hilarious as you would expect.

New video out of Tallahassee, Florida shows police closing in on Jermel Jones, a 41-year-old suspect wanted on three felony counts that include fraudulent use of personal identification and credit card theft. The problem? At the time, Jones was working as beloved mascot Chuck E. Cheese.

Watch:

The bodycam shows officers approaching the man, dressed head to toe as the famous mouse, and wrestling him into handcuffs as horrified parents attempted to shield their children.

“What are you doing?” one young onlooker can be heard asking.

“Chuck E., no!” shouts another child.

One adult confronted officers for doing their job in front of such young eyes, accusing them of “traumatizing” children with the arrest.

“[W]alk him out the door instead of traumatizing all these children seeing someone like Chuck E. Cheese get arrested,” the adult argued. “Would y’all put Mickey Mouse in handcuffs?!”

“Have a good night,” one of the officers replied.

Apparently, when he wasn’t entertaining children as a fun-loving rodent, Jones was allegedly engaging in less-than-legal behavior. An investigation into the suspect was sparked by a July complaint related to an unauthorized charge of $100, linked to the Chuck E. Cheese.

“It is unfortunate that the person who is subject of this investigation and who we had probable cause on happened to be in a suit and in costume,” said Alicia Hill, a spokesperson for the police.

Social media users had some thoughts of their own on the arrest:
