X BODIES Obama-Era Diplomat For Asking and (Wrongly) Answering His Own Iran Question – Twitchy

One of our favorite refrains from the left whenever a Democrat is in the White House is that ‘the adults are back in charge.’ Oh, they just LOVE their credentialed ‘experts, don’t they? Even if those experts don’t have the common sense of a day-old chicken.

Take former Obama ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul. His résumé reads like a leftist wet dream. He studied at Stanford AND in the Soviet Union (huge bonus points there), and was a Rhodes Scholar. He is a professor of International Studies at his California alma mater, as well as a director and fellow of think tanks filled with other experts. Before becoming ambassador, he served on Obama’s National Security Council.

In short, McFaul is better than us in every way, so we should always listen to him and agree with him.

Except that McFaul is also, apparently, as dumb as a box of rocks.

Earlier today, he tried to dunk on the Trump administration regarding recalcitrant Europeans who aren’t helping enough in the war against Iran. He did so by asking and answering a question from recent military history.

And answering it 100 percent incorrectly.

There it is, folks. The ‘expert’ said no. How could we ever doubt his definitive statement on the Falklands War?

Well, we could start by informing McFaul that the UK never waged a war against the Falkland Islands. The war was against Argentina, which had invaded the historically British territory, claiming it as its own. You’d think a professor of International Studies would know that.

You’d be wrong.

The hilarious part is just how sure of himself and arrogant McFaul is in his ignorance.

But we’d also be wrong in thinking that McFaul knew how to use Google to look up all of the support the United States DID provide to the UK during the war.

Not only is this something McFaul should have known, given his alleged credentials, but it is public information that is accessible to him with a five-second search on that most wonderful of Al Gore inventions, the Internet.

… without the United States’ support. After initially trying to assist with negotiations, which failed, the United States provided critical military support, including advanced Sidewinder and Stinger missiles, intelligence, satellite imagery, and perhaps most importantly, access to the United States base on Ascension Island.

There’s being wrong, and then there’s just being stupid.

McFaul achieved both with a mere 15 words.

We should probably remember — as we wonder how a former Russian ambassador could be this ill-informed — that one of McFaul’s greatest hits in the Obama administration was being the architect of the ‘Russian reset’ policy.

Maybe he’s the one who gave Hillary Clinton that ridiculous red button.

Say it with us, Twitchy readers: ‘Embrace the power of ‘AND.’

In McFaul’s defense, he was an undergrad at Stanford at the time of the war. So, we can be fairly confident that he learned nothing about current events during that time except ‘Reagan Bad Man’ and ‘Thatcher Bad Woman.’

His poor students. We can rest assured that they aren’t learning anything in his classes, either, except possibly absorbing his hatred of the United States.

We would find it shocking … if it weren’t so common among leftists, particularly those in academia.

Well, he should have failed history class. But remember that this is Stanford we’re talking about.

He likely got an A+ in gaslighting class.

Stanford students pay close to $100,000 a year in tuition.

For this.

Speak very slowly. Also, bring crayons and puppets.

Even then, McFaul still won’t get it. Because he doesn’t want to.

Nope. He does not.

But we’re glad he posted his ignorance (or deliberate lie) anyway.

It will give us an even bigger laugh the next time a Democrat tries to tell us that we need to put the adults back in charge.
