Young ‘hero’ leaps into action, breaks car window to save woman trapped in Tennessee flood

Not a lot of mainstream news has been made about the latest disastrous flooding that hit parts of Tennessee, but a video from the scene is going viral for all the right reasons.

Flash flooding took the people of Chattanooga, TN, by surprise on Tuesday and resulted in four known deaths.

Footage of vehicles being swept away, and houses surrounded by water, began to circulate on X, showing the destruction:

But a clip of a man breaking a window to rescue a woman trapped in her car was a bright spot among the viral footage.

Matt Van Swol reported that Troy Plemons, 22, jumped out of his work truck to save the woman just in the nick of time.

“The car vanished under the water 60 seconds later. HERO!!!” Van Swol declared.

Plenty of X users agreed:

Respect!

Indeed.
