Youngest Labour Councillor Quits in Party Racism Row

Peterborough City councillor, 19-year-old Daisy Blakemore, has been forced to quit Labour after she claimed she was branded a racist and subjected to antisemitic abuse for pushing for CCTV in minicabs. She says that that Labour HQ have ignored her complaints “due to concerns about the political impact on the party. “ She stated on X:

Effective today, I am resigning from the Labour Group on Peterborough City Council.

I feel as though I have sustained bullying and marginalisation within the group after raising serious concerns—concerns which, in my view, were not treated with the seriousness they deserved.…
