Say what you want about Tiger, but he’s still a money maker.
Not one, but two golf trophies out of Tiger Woods‘ childhood were put up for auction recently, and they ended up selling for an incredible amount of money.
During Masters week, Golden Age Auctions hosted a bidding online for Woods’ trophies, with the bidding starting at $500. The trophies only got 44 bids, however, what they sold for was over 100x from the original bidding price. Per the description of the lot, the trophies represent two of the earliest known wins that Woods had at only seven and eight years old. One of the trophies is from July 1983, with Woods achieving the low gross score during a Heartwell Golf Jr. Clinic. The second trophy was won by Woods after getting the low gross score in Aug. 1984 at Heartwell Junior Club.
It’s also claimed in the description that Woods isn’t in possession of trophies that are similar to the ones that were sold in the auction. While the golfer was in high school, his mother donated the majority of his awards to a junior golf program in the area.
Having the name of Tiger Woods engraved on the trophies’ plaques, they went for a selling price of $52,995.60.

In terms of investing, I could see these trophies getting a lot higher in value, so I consider this a good buy … but still, crazy price here.
