Soros Backed DA’s Office Offers ‘Insane’ Plea Deal To Illegal Alien Murderers In County Plagued With Violence

The Fairfax County District Attorney’s (DA) Office, led by a George Soros backed prosecutor, is offering a plea deal to release two convicted murderers back into the county after just five years in prison, officials announced Monday.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) condemned the Fairfax County District Attorney’s (DA) Office for engineering a 5-year plea deal, according to a DHS statement.

Maldin Anibal Guzman-Videz and Luis Alonzo Sort-Portillo killed a man on a popular walking trail in Virginia during 2024, the DHS stated, citing the Fairfax County Times. A local found the body in a wooded area, the outlet reported. (RELATED: Authorities Arrest Australia’s Most Decorated Soldier Over Alleged War Crimes)

Guzman had allegedly committed a bevy of other crimes, according to the DHS. He has four arrests for crimes including assault, malicious wounding, failure to appear, larceny and obstruction of justice.

Guzman pleaded guilty in a burglary case involving a local Greek family restaurant, and he was charged with attempted malicious wounding after allegedly assaulting a person and an acquaintance with a knife, the Fairfax County Times reported.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) repeatedly asked Fairfax officials not to release Guzman from jail, but the county chose to release him, the statement read.

Guzman, a Honduran illegal alien, remained in the country following a 2019 judge-issued final order of removal. Portillo entered the U.S. from El Salvador illegally at an unknown date and time, according to the DHS statement.

Acting Assistant Secretary of DHS Lauren Bis slammed the plea deal in the DHS statement. “This 5-year sweetheart plea deal for murder is insane. This is yet another example of Fairfax sanctuary politicians siding with criminal illegal aliens over U.S. citizens,” she said.

Both men pleaded guilty to second-degree murder by mob and received a sentence of 25 years — but with 20 years suspended, Fox News reported. A judge approved the plea deals.

The DHS previously stated that three of the four suspects arrested for alleged murder in Fairfax County this year, ranging from the death of a three-month-old to a mother, entered the U.S. illegally.

“How many more times must they release criminals into our neighborhoods to create more innocent victims?” Bis added.

Fairfax County’s Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano previously dropped the second-degree charges of Robert Andrew Reed, who allegedly murdered a man at a bus stop. Descano’s office reportedly said that video footage did not show the alleged stabbing.

A Monday report from Virginians 4 Safe Communities claimed Descano reduced the charges of a man who was accused of rape and malicious wounding to misdemeanors with time served at 11 months.

The man, Yeudy Saul Chavez Sandoval, was arrested in 2023 for rape, forcible sodomy, object sexual penetration and malicious wounding after allegedly luring a woman into a townhome, according to a Fairfax County Police Department statement. He allegedly pushed her down the stairs and sexually assaulted her.

Virginians 4 Safe Communities shared screenshots of court records showing that both the rape and malicious wounding charges were dropped against Sandoval. He was found guilty of simple assault and sexual battery. The Daily Caller was unable to verify the court records or sentencing, however, the county’s Adult Detention Center confirmed to the Caller that Sandoval is no longer being held at the facility.

More than $600,000 has been funneled into Descano’s campaign since 2019 by a PAC heavily financed by left-wing billionaire and megadonor George Soros, according to the Virginia Public Access Project. (RELATED: Family Stumbles Upon Human Skull During Local Easter Egg Hunt, Police Say)

Descano’s office has not returned a request for comment from the Daily Caller as of publication.
