Tom Cruise To Reprise Epic Role In ‘Top Gun 3’

Tom Cruise is officially soaring back into the cockpit, with an epic return for “Top Gun 3.”

News of Cruise’s return was announced by Paramount Pictures at CinemaCon, according to Variety. Cruise will be in good company, as producer Jerry Bruckheimer is also on board to return for the new production. This nostalgic infusion comes a full 36 years after Cruise stunned audiences with his skills as a pilot in the 1986 original.

“Top Gun 3,” the follow-up to director Joseph Kosinski’s 2022 smash hit “Top Gun: Maverick,” has been in development since 2024, with writer Ehren Kruger also making a comeback.

Kruger co-wrote the last installment of the film with Eric Warren Singer and Christopher McQuarrie.

“Top Gun: Maverick” proved to be a box office mega-hit at a time when theaters were still reeling from COVID-19 shutdowns, pulling in a staggering $1.5 billion worldwide on a $170 million budget and delivering a much-needed surge for the struggling cinema industry. Not much is known about this latest installment, aside from the fact that the key players are reuniting and plans are in the works.

Now 63, Tom Cruise still commands a massive fan base likely eager to see what he has in store with the new film.
